Report – Avenida Presidente Vargas, Rio de Janeiro Protest 2017

Brazil's President Michel Temer has to answer charges of corruption. The people protest in a historical place—Igreja da Candelária in the background. Various groups use the podium for their messages, and give interviews. While a young Carioca was selling churrasco in the middle of the demo, a press photographer dares to take a photograph - because of his experience - only with a helmet and gas mask. Employees of Petrobras appear in their working outfit. In the dense mass of peaceful protesters, we recognize a group of young men with backpacks camouflaged with flags. It has been reported that the rucksacks contained striking weapons and Molotov cocktails. When it got restless we were able to disappear into the metro. Then we heard the tear gas cartridges of law enforcement.
